Traditional Cranberry Sauce Recipe

Cranberry sauce is a beloved addition to any holiday meal. The sweet-tart berries are the perfect complement to roast turkey or honey ham, and add a splash of color and flavor to any dinner table. This Traditional Cranberry Sauce is easy to make; simply simmer fresh cranberries with aromatic holiday spices until you have the perfect dinnertime condiment! Make this savory sauce the night before and chill overnight before serving to your hungry guests.


  • 4 c. fresh cranberries
  • 1 c. water
  • ½ c. orange juice
  • 5 whole cloves
  •  and 5 whole allspice berries
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 c. sugar


  1. Wrap cloves, allspice, and cinnamon sticks in a spice bag. Set aside.
  2. Place fresh cranberries, water, and orange juice in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add spice bag and bring to a simmer.
  3. Cook cranberries over medium heat until they begin to burst, about 10 minutes. Continue cooking 5 minuets or until sugar is completely dissolved.
  4. Reduce from heat and allow to cool. Discard spice bag and chill in refrigerator 8 hours or overnight.
  5. Serve cold.
